Rue’s father had no idea how to help his wife and so he did the best he could by giving her food and water and his love. One day, he came home from working in the fields and saw a bloody trail that lead from the kitchen. He followed it until it reached his wife. She had killed herself out of sadness and loss. It took all of his might not to do the same.

112. One night during the rebellion, Katniss was woken up by a small whimpering she heard. She rolled over to see where the sound was coming from and saw it came from Peeta. Cautiously, she moved closer to him and was met with the sight of his bleeding and torn wrists. Without hesitation, she found the first aid kit and began working to bandage his wrists. “Why are you helping me?” Peeta finally asked. Katniss sighed but replied gently, “I don’t want to see the people I love in pain.”

111. Clove cried out for Cato as he life flashed before her eyes. Cato tried is hardest to reach her but by the time she was in his sight, she saw a lifeless body laying on the grass. He kneeled next to her and cradled her body close to his. He didn’t care that the cameras may have been on him, showing everyone that he had a weakness. At the moment all he cared about was that his best friend was no longer part of his life.

110. One day Katniss and Peeta’s daughter was going through a box which had been moved to the attic once they had died. She found some small paintings, a few shirts and two worn leather books. One of the book was her grandfather’s plant book and the other was a people book with photos and descriptions of all the people both Peeta and Katniss had known. Slowly, she made her way through it, reading every page. When she had finally finished she noticed there was one page left. She pasted a photo of her parents in and began writing everything she could remember about them.

Many nights she would lie awake in bed thinking about how different her life would be if her father hadn’t died in the mines, if Prim hadn’t died in battle and if her mother wasn’t too heartbroken to move back to District 12. And many nights she would silently cry herself to sleep.

105. A mockingjay could travel for hundreds of mile on one flight. Once, one flew from District 11 to the woods of District 12, where Katniss’ father had been hunting. It sang a beautiful four note tune. The next day, Katniss’ father left for the mines, whistling Rue’s tune. He never did return to sing it for his girls.

102. Katniss woke up one morning with an empitness in her heart. She silently rose from her bed, careful not to wake Peeta, and crept outside to watch the sun rise. However she didn’t stop when she stepped outside her house, she continued walking through the silent fence and into the forest. She let her feet wander, and she realized that she was following a path that had been recently tracked. With a gentle voice she called out, “Hello?” She was not expecting anything in return but a gentle “Catnip?” returned her greeting.

So this month coming up is really stressful for me because of the amount of schoolwork I have and because my exams start in a month! So I probably won’t be posting many headcanons this month.
